Prof. Dr. Cemalettin Ertekin is a general surgeon specializing in trauma and emergency surgery, pancreatico-biliary surgery, gastroenterology surgery, and endoscopic diagnosis and treatment. He completed his undergraduate medical education at Istanbul University's Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, followed by his residency at İncirli Health Center in Adana and Şişli Etfal Hospital, before returning to Istanbul Faculty of Medicine as a Specialist and progressing through the academic ranks to Assistant Professor and then Professor in the Department of General Surgery, a position he has held since 1999. He currently practices at Biruni University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. His research has focused extensively on trauma and emergency general surgery, resulting in a substantial body of peer-reviewed publications, including work published in the British Journal of Surgery and World Journal of Surgery. He has served as President of the National Trauma and Emergency Surgery Association, Editor of the National Journal of Trauma and Emergency Surgery and of reference books in trauma and emergency surgery, and has held leadership roles including Secretary General and President of the Trauma and Emergency Surgery Congress. He is a member of the National Surgical Association, the National Society for Trauma and Emergency Surgery, the Istanbul Medical Chamber, and ESTES (European Society for Trauma and Emergency Surgery).
