Op. Dr. Mohammed N.I. SKAIK

Op. Dr. Mohammed N.I. Skaik is a cardiovascular surgery specialist at Biruni University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. His practice covers the full spectrum of adult cardiac and vascular surgery, from coronary and valve procedures to open and endovascular treatment of aortic, carotid and peripheral vascular disease.

He completed his medical doctor training at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, qualifying in 2017, and finished his specialisation training in cardiovascular surgery at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine (Cerrahpaşa) in 2025. His medical education was supported by a Turkish–Palestinian governmental scholarship between 2010 and 2016.

Before beginning his surgical training he worked as a general practitioner in internal medicine at the Memorial Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit (2017–2018). His training also took him abroad: an elective rotation in cardiology and vascular medicine at the Minneapolis Heart Institute in 2014, and an observership in colorectal surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, in 2017. Since 2025 he has operated at Private Family Hospital in Istanbul and at Biruni University Faculty of Medicine Hospital.

The procedures he performs include coronary artery bypass, heart valve, aortic and carotid surgery, peripheral vascular surgery and varicose vein treatment, endovascular interventions, surgery for complex multivessel disease, dialysis fistula and vascular access, management of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, mechanical circulatory support with ECMO and IABP, vascular infections and graft complications, high-risk surgical cases and cardiac trauma.

His research and case work spans the Ross procedure in paediatric patients, drug-coated balloon treatment of superficial femoral artery lesions in critical limb ischaemia, endovascular repair of traumatic aortic injury, carotid disease and venous pathology, presented at national vascular, endovascular and phlebology congresses. He belongs to the Turkish Society of Cardiovascular Surgery, the National Society of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, the Phlebology Society and the Turkish Medical Association.
