Assistant Professor Ertan Emek is a general surgeon at Biruni University Faculty of Medicine Hospital, specializing in organ transplantation. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 2001 and completed his residency at the Department of General Surgery of the same institution in 2007. His career has been devoted to organ transplantation, with positions at Şırnak Military Hospital (2007–2008), Bağcılar Training and Research Hospital (2008–2009), Istanbul Faculty of Medicine (2010–2011), Başkent University (2011–2012), Erciyes University (2013–2017), Bilim University Florence Nightingale Hospital (2017–2019), Yeditepe University (2019–2020) and Biruni University Medicana Hospital (2020–2023).
His clinical interests include living and cadaveric liver transplantation, liver, biliary tract and pancreas surgery, minimally invasive oncological surgery and living and cadaveric kidney transplantation. His research on liver transplantation, graft volumetry and biliary complications has been published in international peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of the Istanbul Medical Chamber, the Turkish Surgical Association, the Turkish Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery Association and the International Liver Transplantation Society (ILTS).
