Prof. Dr. Hande Çeliker Ataberk is an ophthalmologist at Biruni University Hospital. Her practice centres on vitreoretinal surgery, medical retina and the diagnosis and management of uveitis.

Her clinical interests include medical retina and vitreoretinal surgery, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, epiretinal membrane and macular hole, uveitis and Behçet's disease, cataract surgery including trifocal intraocular lens applications, glaucoma, and comprehensive eye examination.

Prof. Çeliker Ataberk has published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals, including the British Journal of Ophthalmology, Acta Ophthalmologica, Eye, Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, Ocular Immunology and Inflammation and the Journal of Ocular Pharmacology and Therapeutics. Her research covers biologic and interferon therapy in Behçet's uveitis, endogenous endophthalmitis, retinopathy of prematurity, and imaging of the choroid and retina.

She has taken part in national multicentre studies on retinopathy of prematurity, including the TR-ROP and BIG-ROP study groups, and has led experimental research on neuroprotection and uveitis models. She has also contributed chapters to national specialty textbooks and translated chapters of international ophthalmology references into Turkish.

She is a frequent invited speaker at Turkish Ophthalmology Association congresses, courses and skill transfer programmes, particularly on uveitis diagnosis and management, vitreoretinal surgical technique and paediatric retinal imaging.
