About This Technology

The Cios Select with flat detector (FD) brings fixed-room imaging performance into the flexibility of a mobile C-arm. Its 30 × 30 cm flat detector delivers large-area, high-resolution fluoroscopy and spot imaging that was previously only possible in dedicated angiography suites — now available in any operating theatre at Biruni Hospital. The system is the primary intraoperative imaging platform for our orthopaedic, spine, trauma, and vascular teams, supporting procedures including hip and knee arthroplasty, spinal pedicle screw placement, fracture fixation with nails and plates, peripheral vascular interventions, and pain management injections. ## Integrated Cone-Beam CT With a 12-second rotational acquisition, the Cios Select generates a cone-beam CT dataset directly in the OR. Surgeons can verify implant position and screw trajectories immediately after placement, reducing the need for revision surgery and post-operative CT scanning. This is particularly valuable in complex spinal deformity correction and acetabular fracture surgery. ## Wireless Integration The system communicates wirelessly with surgical navigation platforms, overlaying real-time fluoroscopic images onto pre-operative CT or MRI maps. This augmented reality guidance improves precision in pedicle screw insertion and tumour resection margin control, without additional radiation to acquire new reference images. ## Compact Manoeuvrability Designed for busy operating environments, the motorised C-arm navigates around anaesthetic machines, surgical tables, and scrub team positions with minimal effort. Automated isocentric movement means the surgical field remains centred in the image as the C-arm is repositioned — saving time and reducing unnecessary fluoroscopy.
