Artis zee Pure Angiography
About This Technology
Artis zee Pure is the angiography system in the cardiac catheterization laboratory at Biruni Hospital. This is the room where the heart's own vessels are made visible: a thin catheter travels from the wrist or the groin to the coronary arteries, contrast dye traces the flow, and the system films it in real time. When a blockage is found and the anatomy is suitable, the same session can move from diagnosis to treatment, with a balloon and stent opening the vessel then and there.
What the system contributes
The motorized C-arm carries the X-ray tube and detector around the patient rather than moving the patient around the machine, which shortens procedures and gives the cardiologist projection angles that a fixed system cannot reach. High-resolution imaging with modern processing shows fine vessel detail, and that detail is what separates a narrowing worth treating from one worth leaving alone.
A stent only when the pressure says so
A narrowing that looks significant on the screen does not always starve the heart of blood. The laboratory therefore uses fractional flow reserve measurement, a pressure wire passed across the narrowing, to test how much the blockage actually restricts flow before any stent is placed. Some patients leave the room without a stent because the wire said they did not need one. That measurement discipline, along with stent optimization imaging and three-dimensional reconstruction for complex cases, is what the system's advanced tools are for.
Radiation control in the busiest room
An angiography suite runs X-ray for minutes at a time, so dose discipline matters here more than almost anywhere in a hospital, for the patient on the table and for the team who work beside it every day. The system's manufacturer dose-management technology, marketed by Siemens Healthineers under the CARE program, adjusts exposure continuously to the minimum the image requires.
What the procedure feels like
A coronary angiogram is performed awake under local anesthesia, most often through the wrist, and typically takes under an hour. Patients usually mobilize within hours and, for a diagnostic study without treatment, commonly go home the same day or the next morning; a stent adds monitoring time that your cardiologist plans with you. For complex interventional and neurovascular work, Biruni Hospital also operates the Artis icono Biplane system, and the team chooses the room that fits the procedure.
