Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uğur Temel is a thoracic surgeon at Biruni University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. He completed his medical education at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1990 and his residency training in Thoracic Surgery at Vakıf Gureba Training and Research Hospital and the University of Health Sciences Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital, receiving the title of Associate Professor in Thoracic Surgery in 2024.
His early career included general practice and chief physician roles in primary care in Istanbul and Düzce, as well as occupational medicine at private sports centers. He served as Specialist Physician at the Thoracic Surgery Clinic of Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital (2012–2024) and as Administrative Director and Associate Professor of the same clinic (2024–2026) before joining Biruni University in 2026. He has also held leadership roles in national professional societies, serving as Secretary (2015–2019) and Chair (2019–2021) of the Foreign Relations and Strategy Working Group of the Turkish Society of Thoracic Surgery and as Thoracic Surgery Specialist Representative at the Turkish Thoracic Society (2013–2015).
His clinical interests include cancer surgery, video-thoracoscopic thoracic surgery, aesthetic sweating (hyperhidrosis) surgeries, mediastinal surgeries and chest wall deformities.
