Assoc. Prof. Emrah Özdemir is a cardiologist at Biruni University Faculty of Medicine. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 2006 and completed his cardiology residency training at Istanbul Bilim University Faculty of Medicine at Florence Nightingale Hospital, a reference center in cardiology, receiving the title of Specialist in 2011. He served as a specialist at Şanlıurfa Mehmet Akif İnan Training and Research Hospital (2011–2013) and as Assistant Professor at Yeni Yüzyıl University Faculty of Medicine (2013–2019) before joining Biruni University Faculty of Medicine in 2019.
He specializes in interventional cardiology with experience in thousands of cases, particularly in transradial angiography and complex coronary and peripheral procedures. His clinical interests include the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease, chronic total occlusion and calcified vessel interventions with intravascular imaging (IVUS) and pressure measurements (FFR), treatment of aortic aneurysms with EVAR and TEVAR, non-surgical treatment of carotid disease, transcatheter valve therapies including TAVI and MitraClip, peripheral arterial interventions, closure of congenital heart defects (ASD, VSD, PFO), rhythm disorders, hypertension and hyperlipidaemia. He is a member of the Turkish Medical Association and the Turkish Society of Cardiology.
