Prof. Dr. Sinem Iliaz is a pulmonologist specializing in lung cancer, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary embolism, sleep apnoea syndrome, asthma/COPD, and pneumonia. She graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Medicine's English Program in 2007 with the second rank, and completed her specialization in Chest Diseases at Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 2013, fulfilling her state service obligation at Yedikule Chest Diseases and Thoracic Surgery Training and Research Hospital. She worked as a Pulmonologist at Koç University Hospital from 2015 to 2022 and at Memorial Bahçelievler Hospital from 2022 to 2023, and has been practicing at Biruni University Hospital since September 2023. She was named Associate Professor of Chest Diseases and later Professor, and participated in the EBUS and interventional pulmonology program at Heidelberg Thorax Clinic. She holds the European Adult Chest Diseases Qualification (HERMES) and the Turkish Chest Diseases Qualification Certificate, along with certificates in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnoea syndrome and in smoking cessation. Her research has focused extensively on interstitial lung disease, COPD, and bronchoscopic techniques, resulting in a substantial body of international peer-reviewed publications. She has received numerous awards for her academic studies from the Turkish Thoracic Society and is a member of the Turkish Thoracic Society, the Respiratory Research Society of Turkey, ASYOD (Asthma and Allergy Association), the European Respiratory Society, and the Turkish Medical Association.
