Prof. Dr. Okay Abacı is a cardiologist specializing in interventional cardiology, peripheral arterial diseases, heart valve diseases, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, and heart failure. He graduated from Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine in 2005 and began his specialization at Istanbul University Cardiology Institute's Cardiology Department the same year, successfully completing his specialty training in 2010. After his specialty training, he completed his compulsory service at Adıyaman State Hospital for two years before joining Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Institute of Cardiology, where he received the title of Associate Professor in 2017. During his specialization, he performed many procedures in the field of cardiovascular and peripheral arterial diseases, and in 2018 completed academia-peripheral arterial disease intervention training in Italy. He received the title of Professor in 2022 and currently practices at Biruni University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. He has carried out joint studies with leading experts in Turkey, particularly on heart and leg angiography, and regularly follows domestic and international cardiology congresses, seminars, and courses, with more than 100 domestic and international publications in his field. He is a member of the Turkish Society of Cardiology, the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions, the European Society of Cardiology, and the SCAI Association.
