Prof. Dr. Hilmi Apak is a pediatric hematologist and oncologist specializing in pediatric oncology, pediatric benign tumours, and pediatric hematology. He earned his medical degree from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine before completing his residency in Pediatrics and subsequently his subspecialty training in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at Istanbul University and Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa. His career included serving as Head of the Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology and Head of the Department of Pediatrics at Istanbul University, as well as a member of the Academic Board, alongside a period as Consultant Physician in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at Liv Hospital, before joining Biruni University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. His research has focused extensively on pediatric leukemia, lymphoma, and hematologic disorders, resulting in a substantial body of international peer-reviewed publications, including work published in the journal Blood. He has served on the editorial board of the Turkish Archives of Pediatrics and is a former board member of the Turkish Pediatric Society and the Turkish Adolescent Association.
