Merve Aktar

Dr. Merve Aktar is a Nephrology Specialist at Biruni University Hospital. She completed her medical education at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2013, her Internal Medicine residency training at the University of Health Sciences İzmir Bozyaka Training and Research Hospital in 2018, and her Nephrology fellowship training at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 2022.

She previously served as Director of the Kidney Transplant Center at VM Medical Park Florya Hospital and as Assistant Professor at Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Medicine, and has held positions at hospitals in Kahramanmaraş, Iğdır, İzmir, and Pazaryolu before joining Biruni University Hospital.

Her clinical interests include kidney transplantation and post-transplant patient follow-up, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, chronic kidney disease and acute kidney injury, glomerular diseases and proteinuria, hypertension, electrolyte and acid–base disorders, and the management of immunosuppressive therapies. She is a member of the Turkish Society of Nephrology and the European Renal Association (ERA).
