Assoc. Prof. Dr. Utku Mahir Yıldırım is a radiologist at Biruni University Faculty of Medicine.
He completed his medical education at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine (1997-2003) and his specialty training in Radiodiagnostics at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine (2004-2009). He served as Assistant Professor at the Department of Radiology of İzmir University Faculty of Medicine (2013-2016) and İzmir University of Economics Faculty of Medicine (2020-2023) before joining Biruni University in 2025.
His clinical focus is interventional radiology, particularly regional liver-directed cancer therapies. He performed the first LIOX (Liver Isolated Oxaliplatin) treatment in Turkey and Europe, and is among the first interventional radiologists to initiate chemosaturation therapy in Turkey, where he is the specialist who has performed this FDA-approved treatment the most, applying it for indications beyond uveal melanoma liver metastases and facilitating the establishment of clinical trial centers in Turkey.
He is also preparing to initiate the first applications of isolated perfusion therapies in Turkey.
