Assistant Professor Sena YENEL

Assistant Professor Sena Yenel is a psychiatrist at Biruni University Faculty of Medicine Hospital.

She graduated from Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 2001 and completed her residency in Psychiatry at Bakırköy Mental Health and Neurological Diseases Training and Research Hospital between 2003 and 2010.

She worked at Kırklareli State Hospital (2010–2012) and Kırklareli Community Mental Health Centre (2011–2012), at Medipol University Faculty of Medicine Hospital (2012–2014), at the Istanbul Psychiatry Academy (2014–2016) and at Bezmialem Vakıf University (2016) before joining Biruni University Faculty of Medicine Hospital.

Her clinical interests include anxiety disorders, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, sleep disorders, depression, biological psychiatry and individual psychotherapy.

Her academic work centres on the neurobiology and physiology of sleep, the pathogenesis and treatment of insomnia, the effects of psychotropic drugs on sleep, and phenomenological research on dreams; she has contributed chapters to Turkish Psychiatric Association publications and translated sections of Essentials of Clinical Psychopharmacology into Turkish. She is a member of the Psychiatric Association of Turkey, the Istanbul Medical Chamber, the Istanbul Psychotherapy Research Association (founding member) and the Phenomenological Dream and Self Research Association.
