Assistant Professor Selin ŞİMŞEK ALKAN

Assistant Professor Selin Şimşek Alkan is an ophthalmologist at Biruni University Faculty of Medicine Hospital.

She graduated from Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine in 2020 and completed her residency training in Ophthalmology at Istanbul Bakırköy Dr. Sadi Konuk Training and Research Hospital in 2024.

She worked as an ophthalmology specialist at Istanbul Bakırköy Dr. Sadi Konuk Training and Research Hospital (2020–2026) before joining Biruni University Faculty of Medicine Hospital in 2026.

Her clinical interests include cataract surgery, glaucoma, retinopathy of prematurity, strabismus and medical retina.

Her research covers intraocular lens outcomes, glaucoma imaging and retinopathy of prematurity, with articles published in international peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national and international scientific meetings. She holds the Fellowship of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO) and an ICO certification in Optics, Refraction and Instruments. She is a member of the Turkish Ophthalmological Association (TOD).
