Assistant Professor Ömer DOĞRU

Assistant Professor Ömer Doğru is a paediatric haematology and oncology specialist at Biruni University Faculty of Medicine Hospital.

He graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine (English Program) in 1997 and completed his residency in Paediatrics at Dicle University (1997–2002). He went on to complete his subspecialty training in Paediatric Haematology and Oncology at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine (2006–2009) and further training in bone marrow transplantation at Medical Park Göztepe Hospital (2012–2013).

He worked as a faculty member in the Department of Paediatrics at Afyon Kocatepe University and Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, served as a paediatric haematology specialist at Diyarbakır Children's Hospital (2009–2012) and as deputy responsible physician of the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Private Medical Park Göztepe Hospital (2012–2013). After a year at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine (2013–2014), he joined Marmara University Faculty of Medicine (2014–2024), where he founded and directed the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, before moving to Biruni University Faculty of Medicine Hospital.

His clinical interests include bone marrow transplantation, leukaemias, bleeding disorders in children, thrombocytopenia and ITP, febrile neutropenia, haemophilia, anaemias and haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH).

His research covers childhood acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, malignancy and immune dysregulation in primary immunodeficiencies, and stem cell transplantation, with articles published in international peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of the Turkish Society of Hematology, the Turkish Pediatric Hematology Association, the Marmara Pediatric Association, the Turkish Pediatric Society, the Istanbul Medical Chamber and the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT).
